Specialist Crafts Porcelain Clay is a beautifully smooth, white porcelain clay with a high degree of translucency, making it ideal for creating refined ceramic forms and delicate decorative work. Its fine texture and white fired appearance make it particularly suitable for projects where surface quality, shape and detail are important.
Suitable for pottery wheel throwing, modelling and casting, this porcelain clay offers versatility for exploring traditional and contemporary ceramic techniques. It can be used to create vessels, sculptural pieces and finely detailed forms, while its translucent qualities provide opportunities to experiment with light and ceramic design.
With a glaze firing range of 1250–1260°C, this porcelain has a slightly lower firing temperature than some other porcelain bodies. Its white finish provides a clean base for ceramic decoration and compatible glazes.
Supplied in a 12.5kg bag, Specialist Crafts Porcelain Clay is suited to school and college ceramics, pottery workshops and specialist studio projects.

Important Information
Drying and firing: Allow clay work to dry thoroughly before kiln firing. Use compatible porcelain glazes within the recommended firing range.
Translucency: The degree of translucency achieved will depend on the thickness of the finished ceramic piece and firing conditions.
Water resistance: Even high-fired porcelain is not guaranteed to be completely impermeable. For vessels intended to hold liquids, apply a suitable glaze to help reduce water absorption, ensuring the glaze is free from pinholes and crazing.
Frost resistance: Glazing does not guarantee complete waterproofing or frost resistance.
Protecting surfaces: Always place vessels holding water on a protective mat to help prevent moisture damage to porous surfaces such as wood.
